Upcoming Tenebrae Service

On Holy Wednesday, the Dominican House of Studies will hold a Tenebrae service at 7:30pm. All are welcome. Named from the Latin word for ‘darkness,’ Tenebrae is an ancient part of the Liturgy of the Hours sung during Holy Week. At nighttime, the choir chants psalms, canticles, and liturgical texts as well as passages from the Lamentations of Jeremiah. While the Christian faithful meditate on Christ’s Passion and the choir sings, the candles in the chapel are gradually extinguished until the service concludes in silence and darkness.
