Two Friars Recently Featured in Providence College Magazine

Two profiles of Dominican Friars of in Providence, RI, have appeared in recent publications of the Providence College Magazine. Click the links below to read more! Father Peter Martyr Yungwirth, O.P., will take over as College chaplain and director of Campus Ministry in 2016, as Father James Cuddy, O.P., leaves for New York City to become the Pastor of St. Joseph’s Church in Greenwich Village. Father Yungwirth is a “native of Hagerstown, Md., who graduated in 2006 from the University of Maryland, where he studied history…he entered the Dominican Order of Preachers in 2007 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2014.” Father Nicanor Austriaco, O.P., gives an interview describing his Dominican vocation, and his integrated spiritual and academic role as a priest-professor. “Father Nic teaches courses ranging from General Biology to a Liberal Arts Honors Program colloquium, Science and Religion. Next spring, he will partner with Dr. Colin King, assistant professor of philosophy, to teach a Development of Western Civilization colloquium for sophomores on religious and scientific belief.”
