Bishop Christopher Cardone, OP Appointed as Archbishop of Honiara

Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Christopher Cardone, O.P. to become the next Metropolitan Archbishop of Honiara. Located on the island of Guadalcanal, Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands. Archbishop-elect Cardone succeeds Archbishop Adrian Thomas Smith, S.M. A native of Long Island, New York who made his religious profession in the Province of St. Joseph, Archbishop-elect Cardone had been the bishop of Auki, in the Solomon Islands, since 2004.
